Karen K. Slabas, MD, attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in Chicago, IL, and received her medical degree in 2010. Furthermore, she conducted her internship and obstetrics and gynecology residency at The West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA (2010-2014), where she served as Chief Resident. While there, she also earned the Excellence in Research Award for her work in postoperative pain relief during robotic surgery, the Resident of the Year Award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the Resident Teacher of the Year Award for four consecutive years. In addition, Dr. Slabas received board certification in obstetrics and gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She remains an active member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons. Prior to medical school, Dr. Slabas acquired at BS degree in Biomechanics at the University of Michigan (2003) and a MA degree in Biological Sciences at Loyola University Chicago (2005).
